Aug 7 - Model A

Today was Model A day! Cleaning it up, practice starting it from a cold start. Driving it and shifting is easy! It’s the start up procedure: turn the handle to open up the gas, flip the start switch, make sure the choke is out, the spark lever is up, and push the start peddle button which is behind the brake peddle.  But the choke only stays out for one push of the start peddle, then push it in and HOPE AND SOMETIMES PRAY it will start. Have been successful the last two days. Once it is running readjust the spark and throttle idle. Then remember reverse is left up, first is left down!

Also prep day for the Market!

Morning chiropractor appointment, still trying to make improvement with the sciatica issue! Then registered the car over at the Threshermen site. The two people in front of me in line were from Spencer Iowa that experienced terrible flooding about 5 weeks ago. One person had water throughout their basement, the other had flooding in the basement AND 15 inches on the main floor! Such destruction! But both said they have torn all the flood damage out and have started the restoration process.

Enjoyed supper at Alison’s Kitchen, which is Albert City’s only restaurant. Alison’s Kitchen moved this last year from a transformed gas station and now is in the retirement home that closed two years ago. Kind of strange when you walk in!

Rinsing and cooling cabbage in a tub Tom found at Uncle Melvin’s!

Vegetable prep station!

19 pounds of beans, 3 pounds of peas, 15  kohlrabi, carrots, 40 beets

My work station to weigh beans into one pound bags.

Delaney and Tom in front of the Mexican white corn. The stalks were 10 feet high!
