Today: Seattle to Billings Montana driving 815 miles. Highest gas: $4.09 Ritzville, lowest 3.24 Three Forks Montana. By 11am I had been in 3 states, 7 hours later I was still in the same third state! Crossed the Continental Divide at 6,393 feet at 2pm. Lunch at Winki’s Dinner St Regis Montana a cheeseburger that was incredible and huckleberry shake. However later in the afternoon my “system” adamantly protested for some reason!!!
Wow! It seems like I was hardly home, probably because I was home for just over two months and during that time I spent quite a bit of time being a great auntie and aunt! What fun! Maybe more on that later because I know if I don’t do these posts right away I especially on a long day of driving I tend to forget.
Today I rose at 4:00, left the house at 4:45am, arriving Billings about 7pm Mountain Time…lost an hour. Beautiful early morning with the city showcasing itself as well as Mt Rainier out in all its glory! I absolutely LOVED THE DRIVE TODAY! I fell in love with Western Montana! It was amazing scenery, very green and lush, Rockies had snow, lots of driving along and crossing over windy rivers. I will have to research it but I must have gone over 8-10 mountain passes, seemed like it was one right after the other, yet missed going over the tall Rockies. Also loved seeing the speed limit posted at 80 which meant I could drive 85!! But to balance it out I-90 road construction has started for the summer. I think there were 7-8 places of construction and down to one lane, lasting anywhere from 4 miles to 10 miles. Just thankful there wasn’t an over abundance of traffic. Just when I thought I was done with road construction coming into Billings there was more, so I know I have more in the morning to look forward to! (I know I am not supposed to and a sentence with a preposition but I’m too tired to fix it!)
Only problem today…I can’t take pictures and drive at the same time!!
Hopefully will add to this later but I’m headed to bed and hoping the halls aren’t too noisy tonight! I need some sleep!!!!
