4th of July in Treynor Iowa

The morning was prepping food for lunch and dinner. I’m beat on the “no brain” prep! Like peeling and slicing zucchini and cukes! Cutting up the romaine for Caesar salad.

Great to have David, Brittany and Kason to join in the 4th celebrations! David quickly alerted me to: next year you need to come later and stay “after” Threshermens in August and be here for harvest! Adding it to my 2025 plans!

Because of all the prep completed we were able to spend relaxed time in the afternoon basking in comfortable temps of 80 with a light breeze, sometimes even a cloud cover! We had time for a game of croquet like none other! The mallets were huge (tall and heavy) and the wickets were tall and narrow! David offered me some good $$$ to say that he won! But he didn’t! Today it was Aaron overall and Anna for the girls! We did have a slight delay in the game, for more information see the picture below!

We had time for both croquet and Rummikub, both times a pause in the game! Same reason for both!

Dawson ready to celebrate his first 4th of July!

Chilling with great conversations!

Time for 4 wheeling!

The “boys” replacing the chairs cheap parts!

Great game of croquet! Well kind of! Sorry I didn’t get a picture of the mallets! They were huge, heavy and tall! Plus choice of round or square head! Add to that narrow tall wickets and this game was challenging! Add to that small toddlers, a dog and 5 competitive adults! All the above is true except for the 5 competitive adults! So the game is moving along slowly, opps! Hit the PAUSE button. It time for a diaper change! Later while playing Rummikub …once again PAUSE… for a needed diaper change! (The last one Auntie Karol “insisted” on a diaper change!
