July 2 - Milford NE to Treynor IA

Overnight heavy rain, strong winds and LOTS of heat lightening! And in the morning so humid! Got over 3” of rain last night!

Today was another day of goodbyes, or once again my preference is “see you soon”! But before “see you soon” there was time for one more game of Skyjo! Then time to hit the road! I left in heavy rain that lasted most of my 90 minute drive to Treynor. Heavy rain, thunderstorm, a short break and then repeat!

Arriving at the Grady Farm in Treynor I had quite the welcoming party sitting on the steps! Not sure who was most excited my buddy Bennett or his mom. Bennet and I spent quite a bit of time together a year ago after his mommy had baby Dawson. Lots of fun exploring the acreage of chickens, pigs, veggies, shooting range, giant mud pit, walk through the woods…humidity and all! Lots of great conversations, watching the sun go down. Bennett saying”Auntie Karol are you going to make a Scrubbie?” I did! Then it was “are you going to make another one?” KA: “Maybe not today”. Bennett played on my legs while doing scrubbies, just relaxed hanging out.

Enjoyed very tasty Golash! A new favorite: venison, beef, sautéed mushrooms and zucchini and noodles!
