July 1 - Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain

Nice morning to sleep in! Til 8:30! Fun day! Everyday is a fun day!

This morning we stayed home still with lots of energy and excitement over puppy Honcho! Poor Honcho had a rough night missing his mom and siblings! Hopefully each night will get a little better as he adjusts. The morning was cool! Very pleasant! Enjoyed French toast breakfast, then a few chores, checking out the garden, situating the mama and kitties to a new location (out of the window well).

In the afternoon Joanna and I went to Main Street Market that has a nice assortment of gifts and food run by Mennonites. She and I went last year when we had one-on-one time together, she even found where I signed the guest book last year! Yep! I signed it again! Then to the nearby town of Seward to a thrift shop, gift shop and boutique. Fun just to look! Then it was nearing supper time so we headed home. Tonight’s meal: chicken cooked in the smoker and dressed up mashed potatoes! So good!!! After supper all but Andron played a game of Skyjo! After kiddos were in bed Abi and I played a couple more rounds of Skyjo…fun game!

Joanna a few months  ago sent me a Marco Polo saying at a garage sale she had found some bags of netting for scrubbies for 10-25 cents a bag. She bought all 8 bags they had! So this afternoon and evening we cut the strips and bagged them! She has LOTS of scrubbies to make now!

Just as Abi and I were headed to bed the heavens opened and the rains came down along with severe thunderstorms (heat lightening). I went to bed but got up after 20 minutes cuz even being in the basement I was seeing the flashes one right after the other AND listening to the heavy rains and winds. Just after I started watching Abi came from upstairs and for a few minutes watched. It all lasted about an hour but seems to have pretty much stopped now. Will be interesting to see how much rain we got when we check in the morning! Am praying for NW Iowa as the storm is headed their direction.

Mom’s helper!
