Everyday is an adventure in my retired life especially! Today began with watching the boys (1 and 3 years old) while mom drove 30 minutes to get 1 gallons of raw milk. She does this once a week and uses it for making homemade kifer (for gut health) and in some recipes. (By The Way: I tried some of her homemade kifer drink that she made into a shake with kifer, strawberries, cocoa powder, sweetener, baobab boost powder, collagen, MCT oil, and cinnamon. It actually isn’t bad but it is a lot of work! BTW She doesn’t drink Kifer straight!) While Anna was gone the boys and I finished up breakfast, then went to let the chickens out, feed them and feed the two pigs. Once chores were done we went on a 45 minute walk around the property. Let me clarify! Bennett (3) and Stella (dog) ran the whole way, while I pushed Dawson (1) in the stroller! It was a grand adventure! Only had Bennett and Stella out of sight twice! Both times I yelled “Bennett, Auntie Karol can’t see you!” And soon I would see him pop his head into sight, “ Can you see me?” “Yes, I can!” And away we would go!
After our walk and mom returned, Dawson went down for a nap and Bennett and I began building corals, pastures, pens with an assortment of animals: Donkeys, turkey, chickens, geese, goats, cows, horses and a couple of dogs protecting all of them. Occasionally the donkey kicked the gate open with his hind feet and then the dogs would have to go out and chase him back into his pen! So fun to use our imaginations! We did this last year when he and I spent quite a bit of time together so shortly after I arrived this year he asked if I wanted to build some corrals for the animals! Kids are amazing what they remember!
This afternoon also include splash pad time and Bennett playing on an inflated mattress!
Tonight’s supper was cooked broccoli and amazing steaks! Even leftovers for tomorrow!
After supper it was time to tend the chickens and pigs! Today was a good day for egg collection: 13, yesterday 7.
After the kiddos were in bed Anna did some weeding, while I sat and enjoyed the sunset and we enjoyed attempting to use our quota of words!
